a 30 yo American Idol

Come on, People. If you ask any teenager or college kid if they would lust over a 30-yo singer with gray hair, the answer is NO. 99%, I guarantee.
That's over 12 year older than the average "idol". Think about Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Lindsay Loran, backstreet boys... American Idol should consider changing its name to Amercian Singing Contest. Or they should really reinforce the age limit to <= 25.
They won't play your music or video on MTV. What kind of a carreer can a 30 year old have?
I'm being realistic right here. That's why I cast my votes to Katharin McPhee. The cute girl who can sing. (though not as well as others) That's an Idol.
Peace!

The long wait ain't over

All right, the wait is finally over? Well, not so fast.
The air ticket was bought, hotel reservation made and transportation arranged all out of the company's expense. I kind of feel special now. I'm not used to be treated like this. It is totally cool for 2 weeks of training. Don't you think? I feel scared, though. Because I never thought I could be very important enough to be treated like that.
I"m glad that Fiesta Inn, Tlalnepantla is a nice hotel and it's all paid for. But I"m not happy that it's far from Mexico City. I want to be inside Mexico City, cuz I want to hang out by myself after work.
Time to brush up my Spanish now.
Ciao.

Subway's Daily Special

Just found out that Subway has their daily special for $2.49. To me, it is such a deal. It's healthier and it's cheaper and it is also quicker than fast food. You can't go wrong. (Subway should pay me for the product endorsement.)
Today's special is Tuna Sandwich. I ordered it on wheat with (no cheese) lettace, tomato, a little onion and olives.
While I was paying, one of the workers gave me a thumb-up and was saying something (I couldn't hear him) that could be transcribed as "you're eating it right, man", "That's the right way to eat.", "Man, I wish the entire U.S. were eating like you"...
Wake up, fat america!

watch out, here I come!

Although the Spanish didn't mean to, but they are. Here's why:
500's years ago, the Spanish took over central and south America.
Then, they had sex with the native indians and created a lot of meztizos(spanish/indian). They are still mixing the blood, of course.
But little did they know that the meztizos would be going north to the U.S. and Canada and they are (still) breeding like bunnies, thanks to their catholic religion.
Viva!

Latinos in San Francisco

Juat had lunch with a friend and we were talking about the emerging latino polulation in San Francisco. Other than Mission area, they are coming over to Tenderloin neighborhood, as well.
He said the latino drug dealers are selling drugs at the street corners all night. Some even bring their girlfriends that push a babycart with them. So, not all latinos/mexicans are that hard-working? Or are they all? only in different ways?
I don't support illegal immigration and amnesty. If you don't pick grapes or work in the restaurants, some other people from Guatemala, El Salvador, China will do it. Plus, if you want to move ahead and gain respect, learn English and get more education. Biligual education is one thing that seperate the country, among others.
I, for one, have to work and study hard to get to where I am right now. I am not a citizen yet, even though I have been in this country for 12 years. Everyone that works is contributing something to the society, the country and hence the world. But don't think that just because you work here in the U.S., you deserve amnesty. I would vote against it, of course, when I get to vote.

It's been a long wait, Mexico.

Yes, I am going to Mexico to work there for a year or 2 or three, because I got a job offer there in Mexico City. It is totally the opposite of what the illegal immigrants are doing here in the U.S.
1. I'm going south and they are going north.
2. I am not going for money.
3. I am doing it legally and with dignity.
4. No instant gratification. I can't just climb over a fence or swim across a river to achieve it. The process takes rather long:
12/00/05, First contact
01/13/06, interview
02/15/06, Job offer
03/03/06, application put in to the Mexican Immigration for the approval of hirking a foreign laborer (which is me.)
05/15/05, Still waiting for the approval to take to Mexian Consulate in San Francisco for my work visa (FM3) which is good for one year, initially.
There you have it. Quite a long process, but I think it will worth my while eventually.

Shallowness

I think I should go ahead and admit that I am shallow. But is it that 100% of us are shallow, too? They say beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. But doesn't that also tell you that we still focus on the look? The most popular people in school tend to be also "cute", "handsome", "hot" and "beautiful"? Don't they get the look?

My friend told me that when he goes out on a date, two things matter the most: look and personality. Look is always the first. We all know that the school girls can stare at their handsome teachers for the entire class without listening to a word he said?

A Day Without Mexican Immigrants

One day last year I got home and found my carpet cleaned and windwos done and an uninvited alien napping at a corner of my living room.
I asked him to leave. He did.
However, 2 weeks later, the same thing happened; another alien showed up. There is no way to stop them from coming in, is there?
The good thing is they seemed to do the dirty jobs well and they do no harm. Even though he doesn't speak my language, I feed him from the fridge and let the situation continue semi-willingly.
The other day he expressed that he would like to stay forever and share my TV, drive my car, etc, or he would stop cleaning.
What should I do? I think he's getting greedier and greedier. I can't stop them from coming in, can I?
