The girl at Wal-Mart - Buenavista, Mexico City

I don't know what happened to her, but now her hands are disformed like fists with no real fingers...
But She looks like only in her teens and she's smiling and working at the baggage-check area at the Buenavista Wal-Mart in Mexico City. despite of her defects, she's still carrying bags and objects with both hands, placing them in the pigeon holes or the counter and taking the number card with her "fist". It wasn't quite a nice scene and I couldn't help feeling sorry for her, and would cry to see a person like that.. How about her future? Would anyone want to marry her? She is really a beautiful girl and with pearly smile... but she just gave me strength to carry on with my own life... I have to cheer for her!!!
I guess when I feel down and troubled, all I need to do is not "call". All I need to do is think of her...

Chinese Restaurants in Mexico City

Went to a chinese restaurant on Torres Adalid street in the Del Valle district. 4 big tables (10-12 persons) were already taken when my friend and I got in. the dishes are not cheap. They run around 78 to 100 pesos. Kind of like those in the bay area if not more expensive. It is not supposed to be an up-scale restaurant. And it is not.
I saw a lot of Chinese there. You can tell by their look and their accent that they are from the mainland. I have a feeling that 3 out of 4 tables of people were from Huawei. They just finished working on Saturday and were having a meal there. The manager-like men were talking loudly, with a lit cigarette on their mouth, shirt un-buttoned, running around asking people to eat, drink, asking the owner to get more rice or tea. People were walking past the Mexican waiters to their napkins, plates, chopstickes, etc...
Suddenly, I felt like I was back in China again. and I really don't like the Chinese people, especially when they are in a group... My Mexico co-worker's boyfriend works for Huawei, Mexico and he was bad-mouthing Huawei. Big time. I said to him that I could not agree more.
But the food is good. At least more authentic than those in the Chinatown in downtown, Mexico City. definitely much, much more expensive than the Mexican food here...
Still no Taiwanese here. I am such a loner...

在市中心的計程車大多是漆成green(中文打不出來)色的金龜車.

I like taking metrobus, especially during the rush hours. The traffic can be very aweful and I have had enough of being stuck in traffic. The San Francisco bay area is pretty notorious for its traffic congestion. I live in the north near work and on weekends, I like to take metrobus to the chinatown in the center or to the south where I can find more American restaurants. Compared to New York City, I also like the inexpensiveness here.

I enjoy my balanced life here. I take the subway (el metro) to see the ordinary, everyday people, so I can feel better about my life that I never had to struggle too hard for anything I want. I take el metro for pleasure, because I can. For most people, that's the only mean of transportation they can afford. I can take the cab as well if I want. But it's more fun to see the starving artists singing, playing guitar, beating the tambourine with his foot on the floor right there in the train (beautiful voices they got!), or other poor people trying to make a living by selling pirate CD's, chewing gums, gospel pamphlets, etc.. One time, there was this man who bared his upper body and rolled over broken glasses on the floor for show and collected money. I couldn't bear to see him do that, but I admired his dare-devil stunt and gave him some coins... At least, he's making his living in a decent way, other than robbing or gunning down people... But, believe me, Mexico city is really safe...

The thing with their buses is that they are ancient. Riding any of them would make you feel that somebody just turned back time to 30 years ago. if you're adventurous enough, it would be fun. Remember, it is only for the young, the strong or the brave. If you are not any of the above, I would recommend that you take the double-deck tour bus...
