requisition pending on approval since 2/21

Went to Owens Corning only to find that the requisitions are not released/approved by Victor Ortiz since 2/20. I guess that's why everything is so slow in Mexico. can't complain too much, can I?

Anyway, today is Wednesday, so I went to watch my 25-peso movie. Norbit. Pretty boring. I was pretty tired after a long stressful day. running around in Owens Corning, as if I were still working in the company. No one stopped me or said anything. I bribed the security people with the tamarindo candies that I brought from Tapachula. They are pretty nice to me, even though I don't work there anymore. Run into that UPS guy and he remembered me, too.

De Guatemala a Tapachula

El Carmen/Talisman

From Guatemala from Tapachula

Took my ride with Trans Galgos Inter from Guatemala, Guatemala to Tapachula, Chiapas. Chiapas used to be part of Guatemala, but Mexico took it over. Along with Oaxaca.

Casa de Dios y Cash Luna

Went to Casa de Dios, a church hosted by the celebrity Pastor, called Cash Luna. What kind of name is Cash, anyway. He sure seems to have lots of it for sure....

Pacaya

Volcan de Pacaya

It's Saturday and I made a promise to go to the church with Arturo on Sunday, if I can make it to the volcano on Saturday.

I became desperate last night, as I figured that I would be kind of bored today, if I couldn't make it to the 13:00 tour. But that travel agency/service never picked up the phone. So, I tried this morning and still to no avail.

I decided to call the other agency and the lady quoted me $85.00 USD. I was thinking, what the heck. Talked with Christina, the owner of Xamanek, the god of travellers, and she told me that it is possible to arrange the shuttle bus to come back from Antigua to Guatemala City. So, I hopped on the bus to go to Trebol and luckily hopped on another bus to Antigua, without going further to Tikal Futura (Paulina Rubio is going to preform there... 15/03).

Antigua

I made my way to Antigua and finally got the chance to ride the famous, or is it infamous, chicken bus. I took the bus, following Arturo's directions, that was supposed to take me to the terminal de autobuses, but I ended up downtown Guatemala again. Found my way through a lady to Tikal Futura and from there I took the chicken bus to Antigua. the ride cost only 7 quetzales. Visited a few ruins from the earthquake. I don't like it there, as there were way too many tourists there. The ratio is very high and I don't like that.

Downtown Guatemala City

They dropped me off in the middle of nowehere at maybe 6:30am. I found my way into town and later found my way back to the hotel. It was right interesting. But I acted on my best caution and had a little fun over there in downtown Guatemala. visited several places such as the post office, the main one and Palacio Nacional, which was free. Although I did give the tour guide 5 quetzales. I don't know if it was sufficient. But what the heck. It is beter than nothing.

I got used to taking the bus for 1 quetzal and eventually took a lot of bus rides.

I also took the newly finished Trans Metro. It was kind of a mess at the south terminal of the line during the rush hour, in my case, it was about 7:00 am. The buses are not really new. I think they bought them from somewhere else and painted them green. I got stuck there, because i thought the one I took from Trebol would take me downtown, but I was wrong. it took me directly from the middle to the south end. So, I ended up taking another ride from the south end to the north end, downtown Guatemala.

Took my walk downtown and it wasn't really impressive at all. People kept warning me not to flaunt anything that's valuable.

Guatemala 28/02/2007

The time is 11.30am. Cyber Place, 4 Ave. 11-10 Zona 1, Guatemala. 502-2232-2660

I set my foot in Guatemala after being tricked by the Taxi Driver from Tapachula, Mèxico. The kind Mexican Immigration officer said my tourist card was still good for another 23 days. Hahaha. So, he stamped my passport and let me go. I walked across the bridge to the other side and walked to the Guatemalan Immigration to get ready to fill out another form (tourist card) only to find they only needed my passport and 15 quetzales. I said I didn´t have quetzales and I got by with paying in pesos. He said, ¨oh, Taiwàn¨. I didn´t say anything at all. Stamped my passport for a 90-day stay and off I walked toward the town center of Talismàn (ta-li-mán).

It was pretty messy and dirty right there. But much prosperous than the Mexican side. My stupidness cost me a lot, including lots of hassle from the local business people:cab driver, carriage driver, pimps, currency exchange solicitors and a 7-hour wait for the midnight bus. A local bump took me to a care-taker/security of the Galgos Bus who then showed me his knife/sword, saying that it is necessary that he carries it in case of robbery to protect the passengers from the robbers.

I was so frigging tired when the bus finally took off. Cost 60 quetzales. Can´t complain too much for that.
